Istanbul

Istanbul is the most populated city of Turkey and the historical, cultural and economic center of the country.

This city was the capital of the Roman Empire, the Roman Empire of the East, the Latin Empire and the Ottoman Empire.

The city is located in the Bosphorus Strait, which separates Europe and Asia, between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea.

Istambul is one of the most populated cities in the world, with more than 15 million inhabitants. The majority of the population are Muslim, although there are minorities of Christians and Jews.

The main tourist attractions of the city are the Museum of Santa Sofia, the archaeological Museum and the Palace of Dolmabahçe.

In our opinion, Istambul is a very interesting city to visit.

ÎELEV Özel Anadolu Lisesi School

İELEV Özel Anadolu Lisesi was founded in 2014 by İstanbul Erkek Liseliler Eğitim Vakfı. It has 213 students from 14 to 18 years and about 41 teachers (from Turkey, Germany and Canada).

Since all students are offered IB-DP, educators and students share a vision and mission to empower young people with the skills, values and knowledge to create a better and more peaceful world, which is the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate ( IB).

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquisitive, knowledgeable and understanding young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect, and this is the general philosophy of the IELEV School.

The school prioritises trilingualism. Turkish is the mother tongue and English and German are foreign languages. At IELEV, learning world languages is an integral part of becoming a citizen of the world. Both English and German are offered in all grades and it is recommended to learn other languages.

There are some school-based initiatives regarding languages. Different subjects are taught in English or German and clubs such as the Model United Nations, Debate, European Youth Parliament and the Destination Imagination are in English.
